How would you like to win prizes for looking after your wellbeing, making sustainable choices and helping to tackle the climate emergency?

As a university, we’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment and we want to reward staff and students that help us achieve our goals. That’s why we’ve re-launched our current SWell programme to both staff and students to make an even bigger impact and to achieve commitments made in our Sustainability & Climate Emergency Strategy.

Tyfu Tawe and Growing Projects

Tyfu Tawe and Growing Projects

Get stuck in to one of our lunchtime sessions

Two students at the Bay Campus flower beds

Tyfu Tawe, our student and staff growing community food project has developed during the 2021-22 academic year thanks to more face-to-face engagement opportunities. In addition to our established Tyfu Tawe Singleton raised beds, new raised beds have been created at the Bay Campus. Fruit trees have been planted across both campuses, and seed swaps held at both campuses.

Our weekly accessible lunch time sessions are held throughout the year on both campuses and open to both staff and students. To get involved meet us between 1-2pm on alternate Tuesdays at either location:

  • the raised beds between PenmaenSingelton or
  • the raised beds opposite the core, Bay campus

….. and remember, if you see something ready to be harvested, help yourselves and enjoy!

Students of any subject, in any year of their degree, can work towards this award throughout their time with us at Swansea University. Completing the award contributes to your HEAR academic record and teaches you a wide range of skills. Find out more on Canvas, and send us an email to ask to be added to our email list to hear about upcoming events.

Student societies and members of staff can apply to the Sustainability Team for Green Grant Funds of up to £250 for sustainability related projects. Read more and view the application form: Green Grant Application Form.
